I get it, I’ve been there too. The grip of anxiousness can be down right suffocating.
I know because I deal with it at times. I have my favorite go-to oils for calming emotional relief (Peace, Balance, Console, Forgive, Vetiver, Magnolia), but what if there is an underlying physiological imbalance?
In this blog post, I’m sharing with you 2 unusual ways to soothe anxiousness by addressing more of the “root cause” physiological factors.
Our body’s capacity to quell anxiety and widen our emotional bandwidth can be GREATLY supported by two things:
-
Supporting the nervous system
-
Supporting a healthy gut environment
1. Supporting the Nervous System
There are specific parts of the brain that produce neurotransmitters (NTs) associated with anxiousness. These neurotransmitters are Serotonin and Dopamine. We can effect these NT production centers AND the hormone system that will in turn be activated by using the following essential oils:
-Copaiba: Calming and grounding, this essential oil activates the Endocannabinoid System, helping to balance the hormone system and support a healthy nervous system.
-Turmeric Essential Oil: The turmerones in the essential oil (most prevalant in the essential oil and not the powder form), support healthy Serotonin levels. The Turmeric EO can also help to soothe inflammation in and around the nervous system, making it even easier for the nervous system to function optimally.
-Frankincense: Emotionally, Frankincense helps us to reconnect with the Divine energy within. If you’ve ever noticed a release of anxiousness while meditating or praying, you probably know what it feels like to reconnect to this healing energy. Frankincense also works to lower inflammation in and around the brain while also promoting feelings of relaxation, both wonderfully comforting benefits when dealing with anxiousness.
2. Supporting the “Second Brain”
While most of medicine has been targeted at effecting the brain (so too were all the recommendations above 🧐, we would be MISSING THE MARK BIG TIME if we didn’t also look at supporting the “second brain,” the digestive tract.
The gut is referred to as the “second brain” because it creates over 90% of the body’s neurotransmitters!
Turns out, it would be much easier to work on BOTH the brain AND the gut when trying to tackle anxiousness.
The lining of the digestive tract contains 100 million neurons, more then the spinal chord or the peripheral nervous system 😳! So, if you deal with leaky gut syndrome, or an imbalance in the gut, we definitely want to be sure to patch that up and restore the integrity of the gut lining.
Here are two items that can start you off in restoring healthy gut flora:
DigestZen: 3-5 drops daily in a veggie cap (or get the DigestZen Softgels) to support a healthy digestive environment. Inside the DigestZen softgel are essential oils like Ginger, Fennel and Anise, that promote the removal of the “bad” bugs in the gut, creating more space for the “good bugs” to take up residence.
PB Assist: This pre and probiotic blend helps to repopulate the “good bugs” in the gut.
When the gut is well balanced, it’s much easier for the “second brain” to do it’s thing and produce adequate amounts of Dopamine and Serotonin. And when we have a happy balance of both, it’s much easier for us to embody feelings of peace and contentment while releasing feelings of stress and anxiousness.
