So, I just returned from a 10-day trip in the Philippines, and if you follow me on Instagram, you probably already know that Evan and I are building a dōTERRA team there.
Allow me to explain...
Last March, dōTERRA corporate announced their plans to open dōTERRA Philippines. After years of begging my very supportive husband to jump in already and help me grow this dōTERRA business, I saw expanding our business into The Philippines as a possible “in!” for Evan to say YES.
So, when Evan turned to me and said, "I want to build a team in the Philippines," I said, "Yes!" without hesitation.
The hesitation, of course, swamped me weeks later when he booked his first flight to Southeast Asia, with literally zero leads. But true to the Law of Diving Compensation (OMG, if you haven't read this book yet, you need to! It's awesome!), as we started clarifying our vision and began showing up to serve others, the Universe started to send back momentum. Between Evan and I, we've traveled the Philippines 15 times over the past 12 months and have grown a team of over 70 customers and distributors.
Wow!
And truthfully, we’re just getting started.
Okay, that was a very long introduction to the topic for this week, travel essentials!
Truth be told, my physical body has never traveled well. My monthly trip from Northern California to Southern California always resulted in a miserable runny nose and swollen throat for days following the flight.
So, when we decided that I would be flying 14 hours to the Philippines to work for 10 days straight every other month, I knew that I was going to have to step up my travel rituals and my immune system.
Here are the gotta have its that have worked like an absolute charm for me. I haven't been sick from a trip all year!
1 | Buy masks for your flight.
As you can see, Evan has taken this to the extreme by also wearing an eye mask. Scary looking, right?!
I used to scoff at the people who wore face masks at the airport and on planes. But honestly, after trying the mask trick, I will never ever go back.
I realized that a lot of my sinus irritation on flights had to do with the drying effects of the recycled air on planes. Yuck! The face mask offers a little protection from the wafting germs while also keeping your nasal passageways moist and happy.
2 | Get On Guard hand sanitizing mist.
This is dōTERRA's hand sanitizer with yummy aloe and On Guard essential oil. It purifies hands by eliminating 99.9% of bacteria and other germs on the skin through an ultra fine, quick drying mist. Infused with a natural apple extract, the moisturizing formula will not dry out your skin and leaves hands feeling soft and smooth. dōTERRA OnGuard is a blend of Wild Orange, Clove, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary CPTG essential oils that offers protective benefits plus an uplifting citrus spice aroma.
Evan and I like to spray our face masks with this mist!
3 | Prep your stainless steel water bottle with essential oils.
We can't carry on water bottles, so I bring an empty stainless steel water bottle with 1 drop of OnGuard plus 1 drop Grapefruit essential oil. On Guard is dōTERRA's immune-boosting blend. It's packed with phenol intensive oils like Cinnamon and Clove to give our immune system the extra reinforcement it needs when you're packed in an airtight tube flying though the air for 14 hours.
Combine On Guard with the citrus oil of your choice. Citrus oils help to support your cells, promote gentle detox, and boster a healthy digestive system. Also, the citrus flavor serves as a perfect buffer to the spicy taste of On Guard.
If bloating is an issue for you when traveling, you could also add 1 drop of Cardamom to your water bottle.
I also carry on the oils listed above so I can refill as needed. I notice that I feel so much better after a flight when I stay hydrated throughout.
4 | Reapply immune oils during flight.
I like to apply On Guard on my throat at least once every 3 hours for extra immune support. If you prefer, you can use Melaleuca instead.
Because of my intense fear of getting sick post-flight in a foreign country, I'll also pop On Guard+ softgels or DigestZen softgels one to three times during the flight.
5 | Carry on stress-reducing oils of choice.
My favorite stress-reducing essential oils are Petitgrain and Peace. Petitgrain is an essential oil extracted from the leaves and twigs of the bitter orange tree. It offers many of the same benefits as Lavender and has been coined "men's Lavender" because it's much more herbal than floral in smell. For some reason, floral scents seem to repel most men.
For the Peace blend, I prefer the diluted Touch version as it helps to calm the crazy fearful thoughts that pop into my mind while flying 37,000 feet above the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Eeek! If I need a little extra support, I'll roll Magnolia essential oil on top of the Peace blend. Magnolia is twice as powerful as Lavender essential oil as it has about double the amount of linalool in it.
Here are some pics from our May/June trip to Makati, sharing oils, teaching classes and doing a bunch of doTERRA business trainings.
